‘I’d Actually Crash Out’: Allegiant Flight Out Of West Virginia Has No A/C. Then The Flight Attendant Starts Singing ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’

A woman’s Allegiant flight out of West Virginia was so odd, she thought she was “hallucinating” after a flight attendant began singing 30,000 feet in the air.

Tally (@mahmoola), a TikToker flying out of the Huntington Airport in West Virginia, was already having a trying time aboard her Allegiant Air flight. There was no air conditioning, so passengers were practically roasting inside the cabin. There’s not much a flight attendant—whose job it is to ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers—can do in such a situation.

And yet, one did try to lighten the mood—but it may have had the opposite effect.

“POV: your flight has no AC during takeoff and your flight attendant starts singing ‘Country Roads take me home’ as you’re leaving WV but she is singing the wrong lyrics,” Tally wrote in the text overlay.

She films herself and her travel companion in their seats as a woman sings over the intercom. Tally covers her mouth in disbelief as the alleged flight attendant belts out a slightly altered rendition of the iconic tune by John Denver. Tally and her companion can’t believe their ears, fanning themselves with the in-flight brochure as the woman sings a line that sounds like, “Blowing like debris…”

“Cut the cameras,” Tally says as the woman finishes her solo to some scattered applauses.

Country Roads, Take Me… Off This Flight?

Viewers could understand why Tally and her travel friend barely kept their composure. Several thought the mere act of the singing was already bold, but to butcher the lyrics was on a whole other level.

“Did I just hear ‘blowing like debris’???” one user asked, while another claimed this would “send [them] over the edge.” Tally replied that she thought she was hallucinating when the woman began singing.

“As a West Virginian this is a crime,” a second wrote.

Other users took the opportunity to bash on Huntington Airport, with one user commenting, “Flying out of Huntington was your first mistake. never again will I everrrr.”

One commenter who said they flew out of that airport recently was delayed for three hours because “they overfilled the fuel on the plane, making us overweight.” They claim they sat on the runway until the fuel burned off.

The Huntington Tri-State Airport in West Virginia currently has a 3.9-star rating on Google Reviews, which isn’t bad considering its smaller size. However, as for Allegiant Air, it currently holds a 1.5-star rating on Yelp, according to over 1,500 reviews.

What’s Up With Random Singing On Airplanes?

Funnily enough, Tally’s experience isn’t unique. In June, a Delta flight heading to Orlando also experienced some impromptu singing. In that viral clip, a little girl sang Moana’s “How Far I’ll Go” via the intercom system to pass the time after the flight was delayed. Not everyone appreciated the gesture, and the move sparked a debate across the internet.

The TikTok earned a mind-boggling 37 million views, with viewers sharing their mixed reactions in the comments section. The top comment with 2.1 million likes was akin to Tally’s reaction in her video: “This is actually my worst nightmare and personal hell.”
