It has been almost 14 years since Amanda Knox was released from an Italian prison after serving almost four years of a 26-year sentence for the murder of her housemate Meredith Kercher. Her life has taken a lot of twists and turns since then, the latest involving her performing a stand-up comedy routine this past week at the Tacoma Comedy Club in Washington.
Sure, Amanda Knox doing stand-up comedy is not something most people had on their 2025 bingo cards, but as we have seen when it comes to Knox, stranger things have happened. What makes it extra bizarre, however, is the fact that much of her routine centered on making jokes about the Italian murder case and her being in prison for four years.
“There is this really good Hulu series that’s out now called The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox,” she says at one point during her stand-up routine. “Forewarning, it is intense. Like, you know your twenties were rough when people want to binge-watch them, you know?”
Not bad. How about another one?
“Executive producing this thing for four years, which, incidentally, is the same amount of time I spent in prison,” Knox explained. “And, it’s the same amount of time that I’ve spent as a mom. Guess which one’s been the hardest though? Let’s just say that no Italian magistrate ever chewed up a chicken nugget and tried to spit it into my mouth.”
Could have used a rimshot after that one to get the full effect. Here’s one more…
“My daughter has been watching me work on this show,” she continued. “And she’s been learning about my past. And she now, when we go to the playground, she’ll say to me, ‘Let’s play mommy goes to Italy.’ Which means that she’ll get behind the jungle gym, she’ll get behind the bars and be like, ‘Let me out!’ And all the other parents are like, ‘She has an interesting imagination.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no, that’s a direct quote.'”
There’s more, but if you want to know what else Amanda Knox said during her set you will just have to watch for yourself. My sides hurt from all the laughing.
Thanks to @tacomacomedy for letting me open for the very funny @IamChrisPorter and tell a few jokes about making the The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox on @hulu. pic.twitter.com/MK67Eqnkr3

This isn’t the first time Amanda Knox has publicly made light of her case. In 2023, an article in the New York Times went viral when a girl complained that her study abroad experience was terrible.
In a since-deleted tweet, Knox commented, “Girl, what are you talking about? Studying abroad is awesome!”
