At the premiere of Wicked: For Good in Singapore, star actress Ariana Grande was attacked by a fan while walking down the red carpet. The fan leaped over the divider fence and rushed the actress, wrapping his arm around her as he made contact.

As the viral video on social media shows, co-star Cynthia Erivo — the Wicked stars evidently have a very close relationship — was the first to react, shoving the crazed fan off Ariana Grande even before security arrived at the scene.

It certainly wasn’t a random act, either, as the assailant posted about the incident on social media, both before and after.

On the assailant’s Instagram account, he claims to also be a 2023 World Cup Final Pitch Invader.

This is a reference to the Cricket World Cup in November 2023, which saw the man — identified as Wayne Johnson, an Australian of Chinese-Filipino origin — interrupted the final between India and Australia while wearing Palestinian flag face mask and a T-shirt with the slogans “Stop bombing Palestine” on the front and “Save Palestine” on the back.

His Instagram is also full of videos of him rushing public events, such as concerts put on by Katy Perry, The Weeknd, and The Chainsmokers.

Wicked: For Good, the sequel to last year’s Best Picture-nominated Wicked, will be released in movie theaters in the United States on Friday, November 21. In addition to the Oscar-nominated Erivo and Grande — who were nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, for Wicked — Wicked: For Good also stars Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum.
