The Backstreet Boys began their summer 2025 residency at the Las Vegas Sphere over the weekend and the visuals the iconic boy band used were blowing peoples’ minds. A few videos of the Backstreet Boys’ opening visuals have gone viral on social media.

During the heyday in the late 1990s, the Backstreet Boys were one of the most popular musical acts in the world, having sold over 130 million records worldwide.

Now in their late 40s and early 50s, the Backstreet Boys are now in the residency phase of their touring career, having oreviously played an 80-show residency from March 2017 to April 2019.

Their latest residency is a summer stint at the Sphere, which means the band will be able use the venues impressive screen technology which features a massive 16K x 16K resolution LED display, which equates to over 170 million pixels, making it the highest resolution LED screen in the world.

“Holy smokes….seen clips of every act that has performed the Sphere and nothing I’ve seen comes close to this Backstreet Bots opening….and how did they just appear like that,” one viral reaction to the video read.

Despite the excitement of the above viral tweet, it’s pretty difficult to understand how this person can claim to have seen “clips of every act” that’s played at the Sphere but also not understand how the Backstreet Boys appeared on the stage (as they were clearly put their via a lift in the stage).

“We are thrilled to announce our Summer 2025 residency at the Sphere Las Vegas. We are bringing the “Into the Millennium” tour to this state of the art facility where we can do things we could have never have imagined back in ’99. The coolest part is that we are the very first POP ACT to take over Sphere Las Vegas and we’re going to bring you an experience you’ll never forget!” the Sphere said when announcing the residency, which will run through August 24.

Prior to the start of the residency, the band released the album Millennium 2.0 on July 11, 2025, which included thirteen bonus tracks, including B-sides, live recordings, demos, and an alternate version of their hit single “I Want It That Way.”
