Ben Affleck has seen all of the sad Ben Affleck memes over the years and he actually quite enjoys them. That doesn’t mean he’s going to make it easier for photographers to create new ones of him.

During a recent interview with British GQ ahead of the release of his new film The Accountant 2, Ben Affleck discussed a wide range of topics, including his relationship with the paparazzi and the tabloids.

Just last year, Affleck went through another gauntlet of relentless speculation and headlines due to his divorce from pop star and actress Jennifer Lopez, whom his relationship with was the subject of mass tabloid frenzy 20 years earlier, as well.

While explaining his nature with the media, particularly stalking photographers, Affleck mentioned that he’s seen the “sad Affleck” memes and actually finds them “kind of funny.”

“It’s because I’ve been forced into analyzing it to try to figure it out, to understand: what is it? Because naturally you go, like, ‘OK, maybe I’ll just wear the same outfit every single day, so the pictures won’t be distinguishable.’ Or maybe: ‘I’ll just look like a slob,’ and I’m like, nope – then you become the sad Affleck meme spilling the coffee. Which I have to say I think is kind of funny. So I think it’s just a function of the fact that I’ve spent time thinking about really trying to figure it out.” [via British GQ]

The Accountant 2, the sequel to his 2016 action film The Accountant, also stars Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, J. K. Simmons, Daniella Pineda and Allison Robertson, and will be released in theaters on Friday, April 25.

Affleck also recently wrapped production on the Joe Carnahan action-thriller RIP alongside Matt Damon and is gearing up for production on his next directorial effort, the kidnapping drama Animals at Netflix.
