For many young adults, building a faithful relationship today feels harder than ever. And the data suggests there may be some actual truth to that.
A 2025 survey suggests that 57% of women and 44% of young men believe cheating is “extremely common or very common” in the U.S. Hard data on infidelity is limited, but some reports say that 53% of Americans have experienced a partner stepping out.
Cheating isn’t just a private matter anymore, either. On TikTok, it’s practically a genre, with millions of videos of users sharing their stories, guides on how to find out if a partner is cheating, or catching partners in the act.
In one of the latest viral clips on the topic, a woman plants a cheating “test” inside her boyfriend’s Audi. Her video has now been viewed more than 33.5 million times.
Woman Plants Cheating Trap In Boyfriend’s Car
TikTok creator @elvmarn posted a clip showing how she set her test in motion.
“I suspect that I’m getting cheated on,” she explains while sitting in the passenger seat of her boyfriend’s car. Holding a necklace, a piece she admits she really likes, she explains she plans to place it inside the passenger’s vanity mirror.
She stresses that she didn’t dare leave it on the driver’s side because “if he turns on the mirror,” it would be too obvious.
Instead, she carefully tucks it on the passenger’s side, reasoning that it would only fall into someone’s lap if another woman sat there.
The TikToker even rules out family members as culprits. “I know his mom wouldn’t do it because she has her own car, and he doesn’t have sisters,” she says, hurrying to set the trap before he returns.
Her suspicion, she explains, comes from his phone habits. According to her, he frequently put it on “Do Not Disturb” around midnight and then stopped texting her back for an hour or more. That was enough for her to plant the necklace and wait.
“If anybody gets in this car, and this drops on them,” she urges, “he is my boyfriend. We’ve been dating for three years. Let me know.”
Update Reveals Bad News
A few days later, @elvmarn posted a follow-up video, revealing the results of the cheating test.
As soon as the clip starts, there’s the necklace on the ground. However, when goes to open the vanity mirror, something else catches her eye: a pair of earrings.
Holding them in her hand, she turns to her boyfriend behind the wheel. “’So, what did you do last night?’” she asks. He casually answers, “I was working.”
When asked about whose earrings she’s holding, he insists, “They’re my earrings. I wear earrings.” He adds that he kept them in the mirror instead of the cupholder because otherwise, “How am I going to put my cup down?”
She then asks whether he saw the necklace when he placed the earrings there. He says no, claiming he didn’t notice anything.
And with that, the video cut off, leaving the situation unresolved.
Mixed Reactions From Viewers
One person in the comments section questioned the logic of her test, writing, “?? She can just… put it back?”
Another noticed an ironic detail in the background: a car parked in front of @elvmarn with a license plate reading “po5itive.” “The license plate infront of you being the sign,” they wrote.

Others were more skeptical of her reasoning. “Typically… people may sleep at 12am or 1am,” one commenter said.
Another was more serious: “If you have to do this, it’s already time to leave.”
Is It Real, Or Just For Entertainment Purposes?
Whether the video shows a genuine cheating situation or just entertainment is hard to pin down.
A look through @elvmarn’s page shows plenty of similar scenarios, often with the same man playing different roles—sometimes her long-term boyfriend, other times just a date she “met two weeks ago.”
That makes it unclear whether this is a real relationship test or part of a running series designed to spark debate.
