Brandi Carlile clips have been all over social media for a week since her concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater on September 5th (last Friday). Brandi’s karaoke performances in Nashville after the Red Rocks show have been raking in views by the thousands but it is Carlile’s cover of ‘Uninvited‘ by Alanis Morissette that has stuck with me the most.
First things first, ‘Uninvited’ is a 1998 song from Alanis Morissette that first appeared in the film City of Angels and on the soundtrack. It was her first recording since Jagged Little Pill and it’s an absolute banger under the right circumstances (right circumstances = Halloween season because it’s a haunting song). The song went on to win two Grammy Awards for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance and Best Rock Song.

I first came across her cover of ‘Uninvited’ in a clip from the Red Rocks sound check. It’s nearly 5 full minutes of a beautiful take on Morissette’s song. But as is often the case with sound checks, it is never a sure thing that the song in a sound check will be played in the concert.
That clip posted by @bellasaysimtoooldforthis has now been viewed over 700,000 times in the past 3 days. It is a daytime soundcheck on the Red Rocks Amphitheater stage. It is also the official ‘Earworm of the Week’ because it’s been stuck in my head for the past three days.

The skeptic in me is wondering why TikTok was overrun with Brandi Carlile videos over the past week. She is insanely successful with 11 Grammy Awards and 2 Emmy Awards but… why now? Anyway, the Brandi Carlile cover of ‘Uninvited’ has been playing on repeat in my head for a week so I felt compelled to share.
