After landing its director in Denis Villeneuve and writer in Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight, the production of the next James Bond movie is now turning its attention to casting its lead actor, 007 himself.
In the years since Daniel Craig stepped away from the role following 2021’s No Time To Die, numerous actors have been mentioned as contenders for the role of James Bond, such as Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Aaron Pierre, Damson Idris, and Harris Dickinson.
Now, a new betting favorite has emerged, and it’s somebody who (as of right now) is better known for being someone’s significant other than being an actor: Dua Lipa’s fiancee Callum Turner.

“Callum Turner, who is engaged to Dua Lipa, is the new “red hot” favorite to take on the coveted role, according to Coral bookmakers. The Fantastic Beasts star has been a contender for some time but his latest role as Elizabeth Olsen’s love interest in the romantic-comedy Eternity has given him the edge.”
“After a huge boost in betting over the last 24 actors, Turner’s odds have been slashed from 5-2 to 7-4 to take on the Bond role. ‘We’ve been knocked over with support for Callum Turner in our next James Bond betting over the last 24 hours,’ Coral’s John Hill said.” [via The Standard]
With Denis Villeneuve currently in post-production on Dune: Part Three — currently scheduled to be released in movie theaters on December 18, 2026 — it’s likely that production on his Bond film does not begin until Summer 2026 or later.
The 26th film in the James Bond franchise, the Villeneuve-directed 007 film will be the first under the full control of Amazon MGM Studios, who acquired the rights to the franchise earlier this year.
