There’s no bigger world in the name of canned soup products than that of Campbell’s. If you, like me, grew up in a middle-class or lower-middle-class family, you probably had plenty of days filled with Campbell’s tomato soup, chicken noodle soup, or the class beef vegetable.

But as it turns out, maybe we should now be opting for a different company’s product.

In a recent lawsuit filing, a recording shows Campbell’s Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Martin Bally making derogatory comments not only about the company’s workers, but also the product itself.

Campbell’s Soup Executive Says Company Uses 3D-Printed Chicken

As part of the suit, plaintiff Robert Garza’s legal team presented a recording of a discussion between him and Bally in which Bally runs down the product.

“We have s— for f—ing poor people. Who buys our s—? I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore. It’s not healthy now that I know what the f—‘s in it,” Bally said. “You can eat bioengineered meat. I don’t want to eat a f—ing piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer.”

Bally has since been placed on leave, and the company released a statement claiming his comments regarding bioengineered meat were incorrect.

“We are proud of the food we make, the people who make it, and the high-quality ingredients we use. The comments heard on the recording about our food are not only inaccurate — they are patently absurd,” the company stated.

“We use 100% real chicken in our soups. The chicken meat comes from long-trusted, USDA-approved U.S. suppliers and meets our high-quality standards. All of our soups are made with No Antibiotics Ever chicken meat. Any claims to the contrary are completely false.”

Campbell’s has always been budget-friendly. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Even now, it’s still my go-to tomato soup option. But it may just be time to look into Progresso if what Bally says is true…
