Singer and actress Cassie, real name Casandra Elizabeth Ventura, plans to publicly testify against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs in his upcoming federal trial. Cassie dated Diddy on and off from 2007 to 2018.
Cassie is one of Diddy’s highest-profile alleged victims, as video of Diddy assaulting her in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016 was released online last year. The video, obtained by scene, showed Diddy stalking and repeatedly striking Cassie in the hallway of an L.A. hotel, reportedly leaving her with a black eye.
According to an official motion filed in court in Friday, April 5, Cassie — identified as “Victim-1” — will be publicly testifying against Combs in his upcoming trial.
“She is prepared to testify under her own name. Victim-2, Victim-3, and Victim-4 have asked that their identities not be revealed to the press or the public,” an official court filing states, according to PEOPLE. “Prosecutors requested that the anonymous victims “be referred to at trial using only pseudonyms” and for the court to require the defense not to share identifying details about them.”
“‘This case has already received an exceptional amount of media coverage, which will presumably only increase as trial proceeds. Permitting these measures will prevent unnecessary public disclosure of the victims’ identities, and the harassment from the media and others, undue embarrassment, and other adverse consequences that would almost certainly follow if these women were forced to reveal their true names publicly at trial,'” prosecutors said.
In a 2023 lawsuit that Cassie filed against Diddy, the 38-year-old claimed that, in addition to physical abuse like he displayed in the leak hotel video, Diddy allegedly drugged her and forced her to have intercourse with multiple male prostitutes while filming the encounters.
Back in September 2024, Diddy was arrested by Homeland Security agents and charged with multiple federal crimes, including racketeering, trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has since beel held at the notorious Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits the start of his trial in May.
In addition to the federal charges, Combs, 55 years old, has also named as a defendant in more than 60 lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct. He has denied all of the allegations made against him.
