Throughout the years, Chipotle customers have accused the fast-casual chain of skimping on its portion sizes—specifically its protein. As a result, many have discovered creative hacks to ensure they receive substantial serving sizes.
In a video with over 17,000 views, a man shares how he actually gets double chicken when he requests it. He calls his method “foolproof.”
“So, all the stupid s— you see on this app, I’m actually about tell you something useful,” Florida-based TikTok creator Rob (@roborangeo) tells his over 10,000 followers while filming himself in a Chipotle parking lot. “I’ve been gatekeeping this since high school.”
“Let me get somewhere a little safe before I do this,” he adds, climbing into his car.
He makes it into his car before saying, “All right, here’s the drill. This is just a way to get your money’s worth. Today, you’re spending $17 at Chipotle, you should be getting your money’s worth.”
Chipotle Customer Spills The Beans
Rob says his order is a bowl with double chicken.
“Let’s say you’re a chicken guy like me. They put on a scoop of chicken. I then hit them with an ‘Actually, can I do double chicken?’” he says.
Rob changes his order last minute so that he catches workers off guard.
“I want to see what that employee’s version of a single chicken looks like, so it doesn’t compromise my second scoop,” he explains.
His thinking is that if you let the worker know you want double chicken right “off the bat,” they are going to skimp on both scoops. And you won’t know any different, as both scoops will be the same.
According to Chipotle’s website, one scoop of protein is 4 ounces. Therefore, two scoops is 8 ounces. The extra protein can cost you anywhere from $3 to $6.
According to the content creator, this hack has a high success rate.
“It works. It’s foolproof. If it doesn’t work, you just did it wrong,” Rob states.
He says that one time, in the past 10 years, a worker tripped him up by asking him up front if he wanted “single or double.”
If this happens, don’t panic, he says. He has another trick up his sleeve. And that’s to pretend to change his mind last minute.
“I’m gonna say ‘single.’ Guess what? When you put on that single scoop, ‘Actually, let me do double,’” he says.
Then, he wraps up the video with a message to Chipotle employees who may sound off in his comments section.
“If you’re a Chipotle employee, just be cool. We just want double chicken, true double chicken, and this is the only way to get it,” he concludes.
Does This Hack Work?
Viewers in the comments section agreed that this method ensures they get a substantial amount of protein in their bowls, salads, and burritos.
“I AGREE!!!! I have been doing the same thing!” one viewer stated.
“No bc this is exactly what I do too,” another echoed.
“‘Actually’ is the key word, I hit em with that every time,” a third revealed.
Does Chipotle Skimp On Portions?
In the past, Chipotle dismissed claims that it skimps on portion sizes. Then, in 2024, Chipotle relented. Then-Chipotle CEO Brian Niccol blamed just 10% of locations for skimping on portions in an interview with Forbes. He called these locations “outliers” and said the employees there simply needed to be “retrained.”
However, the complaints continued to roll in. Later that year, Chipotle promised to combat rising prices by increasing its portion sizes.
@roborangeo it’s not about the money… it’s about sending a message 🃏🌯 #chipotle #lifehack #yourewelcome #thankmelater #fyp
