At a Coldplay concert on Wednesday, July 16, the massive pop band inadvertently exposed an alleged affair between two co-workers after they showed them holding each other tightly on the big screen. Those two people have since been identified as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR Chief Kristin Cabot.

What made the clip of the pair on the jumbotron go so massively viral is the way they reacted, as both visibly ducked and covered their faces, with Andy Byron, in particular, falling out of the frame as if he’d just been shot.

The clip blew up across social media and became one of the biggest viral moments of the year, as it was mocked at multiple pop culture events in the days after. The duo were swiftly ID’d as being Byron and Cabot, leading to Astronomer releasing a statement saying that Bryon had resigned.

“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO,” the statement read.

The following night at the second of two planned shows at Gillette Stadium, Coldplay addressed the viral moment and also gave a warning to audience members.

“We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd. How we’re gonna do that is we’re gonna use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen. So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now,” lead singer Chris Martin joked.

Coldplay are currently in the midst of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, which began all the way back in March 2022 and is set to conclude this September in London. The tour is the most-attended tour of all-time and has grossed over $1.25 billion.
