No, Triple H isn’t coming (iykyk). It’s the end of the world as we know it (sorry, REM). Okay, I’m done with the pop culture references. This is serious business. A bunch of Christians are freaking out because a South African pastor named Joshua Mhlakela has declared that the end of the world, AKA the rapture, will be happening on September 23 and/or September 24. He wasn’t completely clear.
“The rapture is upon us, whether you are ready or not,” Mhlakela claimed on something called Cent Twinz TV. “God took me to see the future…and there in heaven, in the throne room, I see Jesus sitting… and I could hear him very loud and clear saying, ‘I am coming soon.’
“To the people that are listening, please pay attention to what I am going to say,” he continued, while explaining that the rapture will happen “on the 23rd and 24th of September 2025.” (Yes, that coincides with when Rosh Hashanah occurs.)
Despite that lack of clarity regarding the actual date (maybe it has something to do with time zones), numerous Christians are very concerned about things like what will happen to their pets. They are also reportedly doing things like quitting their jobs and selling off their possessions. (Who needs a job or a car in the afterlife anyway? What will they do with the money though? I suppose it could come in handy for those who don’t ascend into Heaven on Tuesday.)
RaptureTok is on fire (no, not literally, yet)
Naturally, because 2025, the news of the impending apocalypse has spawned a slew of videos on TikTok, or “RaptureTok,” as it is being called. In particular, people who don’t think they will be taken from this Earth over the next couple of days are wondering if they can have the stuff owned by those who do think they will.

Should we all happen to survive and the end of the world doesn’t happen this week, don’t worry. Much like with April of 2023, and December of 2020, and in July and September of 2016, the three predictions in January of 2017, again in February, twice in May, and December, then again in January, April and July of 2018, and yet again in June, October and November of 2019, as well as in February and June of 2020, another doomsday prophecy is surely just around the corner. Have patience.
