‘You Thought Five Guys Was Expensive?’: Dallas Man Shares Five Guys Cheap Meal Hack. It Cuts His Total In Half

Five Guys is notoriously expensive. As a result, Five Guys fans have found creative workarounds that stretch their dollar.

The popular food hack couple, Josh and Callie Mileham (@themilehams), are back with yet another viral video. In August, they shared how they fed their family of six at Buffalo Wild Wings by taking advantage of the bottomless appetizers promotion.

This time, they took their family of six to Five Guys to show viewers the chain doesn’t have to be expensive—as long as one orders the right way.

Five Guys Hack Demonstrated

“You thought Five Guys was expensive? Here’s how to do it on the cheap,” Josh says, while standing in the parking lot of a Five Guys. Then, the family walks inside the eatery. Callie films her husband as he places the order at the register.

“Six cheeseburgers, six fries, and six drinks. How much would that be?” he asks the cashier.

She confirms the total is $116.72.

“Cancel that out,” he says, before providing her with a different order.

The new order is three $13.99 combos. Each order consists of a little cheeseburger with an extra patty and served as a bowl. They also got extra buns.

The new total is cut by more than half. It comes out to “$56.47.”

“We got our burger bowl thing,” Callie says, revealing three burger bowls. They are able to make six individual burgers out of the order, and they share the three orders of fries.

“And then we have three drinks to share and some water,” Callie adds.

To Try Or To Skip?

The Keller, Texas-based family’s video has over 458,000 views. The video received mixed reactions. Due to the high price of Five Guys, most praised the hack, calling the new price “reasonable” for a large family.

“Five guys is so expensive, so this is a great hack. Thanks for sharing!” one viewer applauded.

“This is a really good hack!! I haven’t eaten there in years because it’s too expensive for what it is!! This makes it reasonable!” another concurred.

“That’s awesome. You’ve literally cut the price in half and fed your entire family. I love it,” a third praised.

Some remained critical of the cost, arguing it’s still too expensive.

“That’s still expensive for fast food,” one commenter remarked.

“Still $50 bucks for cheeseburgers and fries is outrageous. I’m tired of paying for the private jet,” a second stated.

How Did The Hack Come To Fruition?

Callie gave credit to Josh for coming up with this hack in an interview with BroBible.

“Josh thought of it, we did a video showing us figuring it out and discussing it beforehand,” she shared via TikTok direct message. “We just look at menus and see how we could order and share to make it cheaper.”

In the video, the couple sits in their living room, looking at the Five Guys online menu. “This is a little behind the scenes, trying to find deals,” Josh explains. “We talk about it. We try to figure out deals.”

“So, my idea is to do a combo,” he says, tapping each item. “Then, we’re gonna add a patty. We’re gonna make it as a bowl, and we’re gonna add one more bun.”

While the content creator told BroBible that her family likely won’t be using this hack at Five Guys anytime soon, she encouraged fellow Five Guys fans to give it a try.

“I probably wouldn’t do this again, just because I prefer other burger places to Five Guys that are still cheaper,” she said. “If you like Five Guys, try this hack!” she said.
