This Twin Peaks server shared her hack for getting the most meat from a chicken wing. Some viewers aren’t convinced that her method is worth all of the extra effort, while others applauded her for sharing the technique, saying they do the same thing.
What Is Twin Peaks?
Twin Peaks is a sports bar and restaurant chain that was founded in Texas in 2005, according to its website. It’s known for its “mountain lodge” theme, featuring log cabin–style décor, big TVs showing live sports, and a menu heavy on comfort foods like burgers, wings, and beer.
What really sets it apart (and what it’s best known for) are the “Twin Peaks Girls.” Twin Peaks girls are servers who wear revealing, lodge-inspired uniforms (like cropped plaid tops and short shorts).
Similar to Hooters, Twin Peaks markets itself as a “breastaurant.” A “breastaurant” is a restaurant where the female staff is a central part of the experience.
What’s The Right Way To Eat Wings?
In a viral video with more than 524,000 views, Florida Twin Peaks server Cam (@camm.headd) (who, funnily enough, described Twin Peaks as a “wing restaurant”) shows what she thinks is the right way to eat a flat chicken wing.
She explains that the method starts by twisting the ends of the wing back and forth.
“Then this bone’s gonna come loose. And you twist it. Keep twisting it. Pull it off,” she says. After removing the bone, she says there might be a bit of chicken on it. Go ahead and just eat that, like she did.
For the remaining bone, she says you should grab it from one side and keep twisting it back and forth until it easily slides out.
“Then what you have left is all the meat and the sauce,” she says. She ate the entire piece whole and did the universal happy food dance.
She also made clear that in the debate between drums or flats, she has a firm opinion.
“It’s flats only over here. I don’t do them drums,” she says. “I’m [gonna] clean it up if it’s flat.”
Battle Of The Chicken Wings: Flats Vs. Drums
When it comes to chicken wings, not all pieces are created equal. The two main types of wings, flats and drumsticks, offer different eating experiences. Knowing the difference can make your next wing night even better, Atomic Wings noted.
Flats are the middle section of the chicken wing, located between the drum and the wing tip. They are called “flats” because of their leveled shape and contain two thin bones running parallel through tender dark meat covered with skin.
Flats have a higher skin-to-meat ratio, which means each bite is packed with flavor and a satisfying crunch. They’re often easier to eat in small bites, making them a favorite for those who want a quick, saucy, protein-packed snack.
The drumstick is the lower portion of the chicken wing, separated from the thigh. Drumsticks generally have more meat than flats. But the larger bone can make them trickier to eat.
Some people prefer drumsticks for their meaty bite and satisfying heft. And they can be served with or without skin depending on personal preference. Compared to flats, drumsticks usually have fewer calories and less saturated fat because of the higher meat-to-skin ratio.
So which is better? It’s up to your preference. For some, it’s all about flavor and ease of eating. Flats offer a crispier, more flavor-forward experience. Drumsticks provide a meatier, more filling option.
