‘Must Be In Beverly Hills’: Man Goes To The Goodwill. Then He Takes A Closer Look At The Golf Clubs, Realizes He Struck Gold

A man is going viral on TikTok after showing off what he calls “golf gold” that he scored at his local thrift store.

Laziz Baldwin (@laziz.baldwin), who regularly posts lifestyle videos, turned his latest clip into a PSA about why you should always check thrift stores before buying gear at full price.

“Your sign to go to your local Goodwill and find some gold,” Baldwin wrote in the text overlay. He then showed off his find: a PING G30 driver, which can go for hundreds of dollars online.

“Nothing like finding some golf gold at Goodwill,” he added in the caption. As of Monday, the video had garnered over 227,000 views.

How Can I Find Good Deals At Goodwill?

If you want to score your own “golf gold,” the key is showing up often and knowing what to look for. Goodwill rotates inventory daily, so the more you go, the better your chances of finding something worth grabbing.

Enter with a loose list of things you want, but remain open to surprises. Some of the best finds are things you didn’t even know you were looking for—like Baldwin’s driver. Take your time and check every aisle, including both the high and low shelves, where hidden gems often reside.

Keep an eye out for tags that say “new with tags,” as those pieces are usually unworn and can be a great deal. Pay attention to quality materials—cotton, wool, silk—and, if you’re looking at furniture, check for solid wood and sturdy construction like dovetail joints.

Brands and labels matter, so do a little research before you go. Vintage Pyrex, jadeite dishes, collectible glassware, and well-made clothing from recognizable brands are all popular resale items that retain their value.

Don’t skip the basics, either. Kitchenware, glassware, small appliances, and even electronics can be worth picking up if they’re in good shape. Just make sure you can plug things in to test them before making a purchase.

A small tape measure can save you from falling in love with a piece of furniture that won’t fit in your space. And maybe the most important tip—don’t buy just because it’s cheap. The goal is to find things you’ll actually use or love, not add more clutter to your home.

PING Irons Are Considered Premium

Part of why Baldwin’s find was such a big deal is that PING clubs aren’t cheap—and that’s by design. PING has a reputation for making some of the most durable and high-quality clubs available, and it protects that reputation by maintaining consistent prices.

According to some golfers, you’ll rarely see major retailers slashing prices on new PING gear, which keeps the value of their clubs steady and avoids the bargain-bin markdowns you see from other brands.

Another thing that drives up the cost is PING’s focus on custom fitting. They want golfers to be properly fit for their equipment, and their pricing ensures that fitters are paid fairly for their time and expertise.

The materials are another big selling point. PING uses high-quality stainless steel in its cast irons. That durability means their clubs can last for years without losing performance, which is precisely why golfers are willing to pay a premium for them.

Viewers Question Which Goodwill He Visited

Commenters who watched Baldwin’s video were quick to ask where he found such a steal—pointing out that at their local thrift stores, they’ve never gotten that lucky.

“So, umm, my Goodwill got [a] 1900 starter pack, where can I find this Goodwill?” one person asked.

“Must be in Beverly Hills,” another quipped.

“All I find are wooden clubs,” a third commenter complained.

Others, however, said they, too, have struck gold at Goodwill.

“Found some Taylormade RAC irons a few days ago,” one commenter bragged, sharing a picture of their find.

“Picked up this Vokey set for $12,” another wrote.

“All for $15,” added a third, who also shared a picture of the clubs they found at Goodwill. “It came with a bag and everything I needed in it. It wasn’t there at first. I was getting ready to leave with nothing, until someone walked out the back with it. I think it was God telling me to go for it.”
