SiriusXM execs reportedly have to spend their time keeping iconic radio host Howard Stern “away” from up-and-coming media mega-star Alex Cooper when she’s in the New York City offices. Cooper and her massive $125 million contract reportedly “bug” Stern.
Earlier this month, it was reported that SirisXM is going to effectively cancel Howard Stern’s long-running radio show as his $100 million contract is set to end in the fall. While reports indicate they plan to offer him a new deal, the company does not expect him to accept it, with the two sides reportedly being far apart on their valuations of the brand.
Now, sources claim that when Alex Cooper — who recently landed a $125 million deal with Sirius — is in the New York City offices, SiriusXM execs have to go out of their way to “keep Stern away” from her.
Howard Stern needs to be “kept away” from Alex Cooper when she’s at SiriusXM’s New York City office
“She’s the one that bugs him. She gets hundreds of millions of hits, she has this mega $125 million deal, and he hates that this young bubbly woman is the big new thing… That’s who they have to keep Howard away from when she comes to New York,” an alleged inside source told The Sun.
“It’s completely turned Howard’s world upside down. He’s been in radio 40 years, and this change has really shocked everyone… Alex and Joe Rogan, these massive podcasters, have traditional radio guys stunned.”
At the time it was reported that SiriusXM was going to let Stern’s contract end, sources told The Sun — which, it should be noted, is an England newspaper that some, if not many, in the country believe is unreliable — that Stern’s opinions about Donald Trump and the current “political climate” that led to Stephen Colbert being pulled off the air are the main reasons the long time shock jock will not be brought back by Sirius XM after his contract expires.
