Lana Del Rey kissed Morgan Wallen. The memory of their fling apparently grosses her out.
She cannot even stand to hear his name without making a face!
Lana Del Rey first name-dropped the biggest star in country music when she debuted a new song called ‘57.5’ during her performance at Stagecoach in April. The lyrics warn others not to go “ATVing with him when you’re out West” because she wound up kissing Morgan Wallen and it went to his head.
That singular performance was the only time Lana Del Rey sang that lyric at a live show. One and done. Never again will she say his name while on stage. It was her promise!
The same cannot be said for her fans. They love to fill in the blanks.
Lana Del Rey is still performing ‘57.5’ on her UK tour (which received mixed reviews) but not that one line. She goes silent while the band continues to play and then she picks right back up for the ATV part.
The crowd typically shouts “I kissed Morgan Wallen” for her.
I am not sure why Lana Del Rey chose to name drop Morgan Wallen in one of her songs. There is obviously more to the story that we do not know. We may never get to find out!
However, Lana Del Rey — who married an alligator tour guide in Louisiana last year — does not like him. The 40-year-old made that abundantly clear at her show in Liverpool. Just look at her face:
She is disgusted.
It was not subtle.
To be completely honest, I find it rather petty for Lana Del Rey to keep taking these pop shots at Morgan Wallen without further explanation of what happened. I would imagine that her face is completely warranted, given his history of behavior, but she was the one who kissed him in the first place! To not say the lyric is one thing. I actually like that. Drama is great for ratings. It’s funny.
With that being said, to make a face like that makes it seem like he still occupies space in her brain. Or Morgan Wallen really did Lana Del Rey dirty and she really is abhorred by whatever went down. Or both!
