Luigi Mangione is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. The notorious NYC prison is also currently housing disgraced rapper and producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, and FTX fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried.

In addition to sharing a jail, Luigi Mangione and Diddy also have legal connections, as Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo is married to Karen Friedman Agnifilo.

Mangione, 26 years old, has been accused of shooting and killing United HealthCare CEO Brian Thompson outside of a Hilton Hotel in New York City on Monday, December 4.

On Thursday, the married couple appeared together in New York City court to inform the presiding judge that they will be representing Mangione, according to People.

“Marc Agnifilo, who is representing the hip hop mogul, appeared in federal court in Manhattan with his wife, Karen Friedman Agnifilo, on Thursday to inform Judge Katharine Parker that they will represent Mangione in his defense against the federal charges.”

Mangione has been charged with four federal charges: murder through the use of a firearm, using a weapon equipped with a silencer, and two counts of stalking.

In Pennsylvania — where Mangione was found at an Altoona McDonald’s on December 9 after a multi-day manhunt — he’s been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, forgery and providing false identification to police in Pennsylvania.

Mangione’s legal team also includes Tom Dickey, who told CNN earlier this month that he has’t seen “any evidence” of Mangione being Thompson’s killer.

“I haven’t seen any evidence that they have the right guy. I haven’t seen a speck of evidence at all. They need to convince me,” Dickey said.

On Thursday, Magione appeared in court in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania before being extradited to New York City, where he was greeted by at least 40 law enforcement officials when deboarding a helicopter at the South Street Helipad, resulting in photos and videos that immediately went viral on social media.

Mangione’s charge of using a firearm to commit murder carries a maximum potential sentence of death.
