United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Kingsville, Texas made a massive drug bust last week when an American citizen tried smuggling $3.2 million worth of meth into the country. The person was brazenly trying to bring the illegal drugs into the country at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 77.
The Customs and Border Protection were alerted by a service canine that there was something fishy going on with a white Ford Escape trying to cross the border into America. After further inspection, CBP agents discovered 90 bundles of methamphetamine weighing a total of approximately 102 pounds concealed within various trim panels on the SUV.

After discovering the hidden meth, the driver was immediately taken into custody and the case was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for further investigation and pending criminal charges.
“I applaud the efforts and diligence of our Border Patrol agents in taking this large amount of extremely dangerous drugs off the streets. We will continue to work with our partner agencies to help ensure these drug traffickers are held accountable.”, stated RGV Sector Chief Gloria I. Chavez.
The Texas-Mexico border has seen a lot of drug activity over the past several weeks. On numerous occasions, smugglers have been caught trying to sneak millions of dollars worth of narcotics into the United States.
Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents recently made a massive drug seizure when they busted the driver of a tractor trailer trying to enter the United States with $4.1 million worth of cocaine. In just a few weeks prior to that, $2.4 million worth of meth that found hidden in a shipment of Persian limes at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility, over $20 million in liquid meth was discovered in mineral water bottles at the Roma Port of Entry, and $6.2 million worth of cocaine was found hidden in rolls of plastic wrap by CBP officers at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility.
