The Miami Vice remake from Top Gun: Maverick and F1 director is reportedly eyeing two of the biggest stars in Hollywood, as reports indicate that Glen Powell and Michael B. Jordan are being eyed to star in the film.

Glen Powell and Michael B. Jordan have become two of the most promising young movie stars in Hollywood in recent years, which is a reputation that’s only grown in the last year or two thanks to their starring roles in films such as Twisters and Sinners.

Similarly, Joseph Kosinski has proven himself to be one of Hollywood’s marquee blockbuster directors following the billion-dollar success of Top Gun: Maverick and this summer’s Brad Pitt-starring F1.

Miami Vice was created by Anthony Yerkovich and produced by Michael Mann, first premiered on NBC on September 16, 1984 and ran for five seasons until June 1989. In 2006, Mann also directed a film adaptation of the series starring Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell, which was mildly received at first but has since become a beloved cult classic.

The series — which originally starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas — follows a pair of undercover Miami detectives who attempt to infiltrate and combat the drug trade and other criminal elements in South Florida.

Glen Powell and Michael B. Jordan rumored to be in talks to star in the Miami Vice remake from F1 director Joseph Kosinski

According to reports from Nexus Point News, Glen Powell and Michael B. Jordan are “in talks” to star as James “Sonny” Crockett and Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs, respectively, Kosinski’s Miami Vice remake, which is currently dated to release in August 2027.

Kosinski’s Miami Vice script is being written by Dan Gilroy, the writer and director of the Oscar nominated film Nightcrawler and a recent Emmy winner for his work on Andor. Gilroy has also written the films Two for the Money, Real Steel, The Bourne Legacy, Kong: Skull Island, Roman J. Israel, Esq., and Velvet Buzzsaw.

In addition to Top Gun: Maverick and F1, Kosinski has also directed the films Tron: Legacy, Oblivion, Only The Brave, and Spiderhead.
