Nathan Fielder’s hit HBO show The Rehearsal once again pushed boundaries in its latest episode, as it depicted Paramount as a Nazi-like organization. The Rehearsal is an HBO show — HBO is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.

The circumstances that led Nathan Fielder to depicting Paramount as the Third Reich are as follows: the streaming service Paramount+ hosts Fielder’s previous series Nathan For You, as it aired on Comedy Central, which is owned by the same parent company as Paramount.

Fielder discovered that Paramount had removed one of the episodes of Nathan For You, “Horseback Riding/Man Zone”, due to its subject matter: the Holocaust. In the episode, Fielder creates the winter outerwear brand Summit Ice, which donates proceeds to Holocaust charities/educational centers. Fielder says the company has raised “millions” of dollars for Holocaust awareness and that it is his proudest achievement.

Paramount says the episode was removed from Paramount+ in Europe because they were “uncomfortable with what they called anything that touches on antisemitism in the aftermath of the Israel/Hamas attacks.”

This obviously struck a chord with Fielder, so much so that he depicted the company as Nazis in the latest episode of The Rehearsal, apparently blindsiding Paramount.

“Sources indicate to Variety that Paramount+ was not given a head’s up about this storyline by the show or HBO. Presumably, the episode was cleared by HBO’s legal department before release, as is standard procedure with satirical content involving real corporations,” reports Variety.

“Contacted by Variety, Paramount+ did not comment. A spokesperson for the company declined to address any further questions, including Fielder’s depiction of Paramount+ as Nazi Germany, why the episode failed to meet its standards or whether it will ever be put back on the platform.”

What made Fielder’s decision to blast Paramount in the way he did is the fact that he recently worked with the company on the acclaimed series The Curse alongside Emma Stone and Benny Safdie (which he mentions in the episode, noting that it’s not yet been renewed for a second season).

As it turns out, HBO wasn’t the only network blasting Paramount on Sunday night, as they were also called out by the iconic CBS news magazine show 60 Minutes for seemingly exerting network pressure on the show to politically appease Donald Trump so the company can secure a merger with Skydance Studios.

“So Nathan Fielder was absolutely accurate in his portrayal of Paramount in the Rehearsal,” read one viral tweet reacting to 60 Minutes‘ revealing comments.

“Between this and Nathan Fielder depicting them like nazis on the rehearsal, paramount’s uhhh having one hell of a night!” another succinctly summarized.
