This White Claw can is more like a bag of chips than a seltzer drink—mostly air. Here’s what could have led to this basically empty drink, and how White Claw is dealing with the blowback.
Content creator and former “The Bachelor” contestant Chandy (@chanddyyy) shared the surprising thing that was wrong with her White Claw. Her TikTok has more than 644,000 views.
In the video, Chandy pops open a White Claw can—a popular hard seltzer brand known for its fruity flavors and low calories—and pours out the contents. She likely started filming because the can was unusually light.
So little comes out that it’s not even enough to fully soak a paper towel. At best, it got about a fourth of the paper towel wet.
“Whiteclaw. Count your days,” the text overlay reads.
“@WhiteClaw how is this even possible?” Chandy asked in the caption,
White Claw responded in the comments, telling Chandy to direct message it. In another comment, she shared that the company directed her to contact its consumer care team.
How Did This Happen?
The most likely explanation for Chandy’s nearly empty White Claw can is a manufacturing or fill-line error. Beverage cans are filled by highly automated machines designed to maintain consistent liquid levels. But even the most well-maintained equipment can experience glitches.
Filling valves, which control the flow of liquid into each can, are particularly critical. Leaks, misaligned valves, or timing issues can all result in underfilled cans. In some cases, inconsistent pressure or clogged components can prevent the proper amount of beverage from reaching the container.
Product flow issues, such as pump malfunctions or blocked filters, can also contribute to inconsistent fill levels. Even minor problems—like a misaligned can on the conveyor or uneven spacing between containers—can disrupt the process and lead to an empty or nearly empty can slipping through quality control.
Beyond filling, capping, and sealing mechanisms are another potential factor. A misapplied cap or uneven seal could allow liquid to escape or fail to maintain carbonation, making the can appear emptier than intended.
While such errors are rare, they can happen even in modern production facilities.
