The first trailer for The Naked Gun reboot starring Liam Neeson was released, and it features a joke about O.J. Simpson that immediately got movie fans excited for the film. Simpson, prior to committing double-murder in 1994, starred in all original three The Naked Gun films as Detective Nordberg.
The release of The Naked Gun trailer came in tandem with Paramount Pictures’ presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
While the trailer was full of hilarious gags — 72-year-old Liam Neeson referring to Leslie Neilsen as Dad, for example — it was the trailer-capping joke that really got fans hyped for the project, which was directed by Akiva Schaffer of The Lonely Island.

In addition to Liam Neeson in the lead role of Frank Drebin Jr., The Naked Gun, hitting theaters on August 1, 2025, also stars Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder, and Busta Rhymes.
