I am a huge fan of both Post Malone and Sierra Ferrell. However, there is a growing contingency of country music fans who think Posty needs to go away.
I don’t get it!
This latest uprising stems from a surprise duet at the Twilight Concert Series in Salt Lake City. It is one of the most unexpected opinions in an era of music (and society) where hot takes are infinite.
Sierra Ferrell is the Appalachian princess.
If you are not familiar with the individual work of Sierra Ferrell, you probably know her duets. She has songs with Zach Bryan, Shakey Graves, Post Malone and even Joe Jonas.
The 36-year-old West Virginia-native is something of a modern day throwback. She blends multiple different genres of music, from bluegrass and folk to gypsy jazz and rock and roll, while maintaining a distinct vintage aesthetic— both in her appearance and in her vocals.
Ferrell, who was once an underground up-and-comer in the not-so-distant past, is on a meteoric rise to the mainstream over the last few years. Never in a million years did I expect her to sing Aerosmith with one of the Jonas Brothers, for example.
Everybody loves a surprise duet!
Post Malone featured Sierra Ferrell on his debut country music album, F-1 Trillion. They sing ‘Never Love You Again.’
Well, Ferrell recently played at the Twilight Concert Series in Salt Lake City and Posty just so happened to be there. He came out to the delight of an at-capacity crowd at Library Square.
They sang their song together.
It was a phenomenal performance if you ask me. I think they sounded great!
Those in attendance certainly seemed to agree with my opinion. They loved it.
Post Malone burnout is real, apparently.
Although the crowd was completely into the surprise Posty pop-up, a surprisingly large group of haters at home were actually annoyed to see him make yet another appearance on their For You Page on TikTok. They would apparently prefer that he ducks out of the public eye for awhile.
“Post Malone needs to go away,” commented @19dannywilliams73.
“She’s adorable, wish I liked his music,” said @K_r_u_s_t_y_.
Other people questioned why Post Malone always needs to do the most. One person even went so far as to say that he would stop making everything about himself.
I don’t see it that way, which is why I was so surprised to see the amount of hatred directed toward a guy who is, by all accounts, one of the nicest dudes in the business. There is a world out there I did not know existed where people actually want to see less of Post Malone. Color me shocked.
He did the least!
Not only did Posty sing with Sierra Ferrell, he stuck around to play the bass drum for her performance of ‘Fox Hunt.’ I thought it was hilarious. They had a lot of fun and having fun is a good thing!
Post Malone was in his own little world just hanging out, drinking a beer, smoking a cigarette and banging a drum. Sounds pretty cool if you ask me.
And yet, there are people out there in the world who watch that video and think he is a self-centered person who only cares about himself. They want him to disappear. That is crazy to me! I want more.
