‘Imagine What It Does To Your Insides’: Man’s Grill Gets Dirty. Then He Uses The Red Bull Hack To Clean It

One London-based bar manager is adding energy drinks to his cleaning supplies after trying out the Red Bull hack on his grill. The hack is one he learned through TikTok.

Guy Earl of Warwick (@guyearlofwarwick) is a South London-based pub run by owners Bonnie and Ray. The duo posts work-related content for their 23,000 followers.

In a video with a whopping 23 million views, Ray hovers over a filthy, grease-stained grill in the bar’s kitchen. He’s holding an 8-ounce can of Red Bull. “Seeing if the redbull hack to clean the grill works,” the text overlay reads.

He proceeds to dump two energy drinks all over the grill, which is on. The liquid immediately bubbles and sizzles when it hits the hot surface. Ray scrapes the grill back and forth with a metal spatula before letting the liquid run off into the grill’s built-in drain.

Results Are In

The results are immediate. The grill looks as good as new (or near new) in just a few short minutes.

“Goodbye to bar stocks,” he jokes in the text overlay with a laughing emoji.

Because of how efficiently the Red Bull cleaned the bar grill’s surface, many fans of the drink questioned what it was doing to their own insides.

“Now imagine what it does to your insides,” one viewer commented.

“Realizing that if redbull can clean this wth is it doing with my body,” a second remarked.

“Call me crazy but I don’t think we should be drinking beverages that can double as cleaning products,” a third stated.

“My insides must be gleaming thanks to this amazing product,” a fourth quipped sarcastically.

Why Does This Work?

Due to the citric acid in them, energy drinks can in fact break down grease and grime. The University of Pittsburgh likens citric acid to vinegar but notes it can actually be more efficient than vinegar in some ways. This is why you might see energy drinks or sodas like Sprite being used to restore metallic objects. “While it’s not quite as potent as some other ingredients when it comes to disinfecting, it still has an effect, making it a great, gentle option for day-to-day cleanup,” the University of Pittsburgh adds.

In the comments section, Ray clarified that he doesn’t intend to make this his go-to cleaning product. “Tbf it was just to see if it did work as I seen it on a video the other day. Not gonna be cleaning with redbull all the time,” he said.”

How Do Energy Drinks Affect The Body?

Viewer concerns about the health ramifications of Red Bull were semi-valid. Healthline states that when consumed in excessive amounts, one runs the risk of causing damage to their heart, teeth, kidneys, and liver.

Here are side effects one may experience if they consume too many energy drinks:

  • arrhythmia (changes in heart rhythm)
  • cardiac arrest
  • heart attack
  • death

So, like with most things, moderation is key.
