Sydney Sweeney may not be dating Glen Powell, but she seems to know why people wanted to believe they were. According to the A-list actress, the rumors of the pair dating were so rampant because “people saw a really beautiful pairing.”
During a recent lengthy interview to promote her upcoming boxing drama Christy, the 27-year-old blonde bombshell was asked about the rumors that she and Glen Powell were dating that spread like wildfire during the promotion of their rom-com Anyone But You.
Not only did the pair look like they had a blast filming the flirty feature together, but Powell and his then-girlfriend Gigi Paris also split up.
According to Sweeney, though — while she does not outright deny that there was any romance between the two — said the media created the frenzy themselves and that, while she “loves being with him,” they did not “lean into” the dating rumors.

The most eye-opening part of the ever-confident Sweeney’s quote, however, was when she revealed that people “just truly saw a really beautiful pairing.”
“Honestly, the press did it themselves. There was no leaning in, per se. Truly the tabloids and journalists just created it and kept going,” Sweeney said in an interview with Variety.
“Even if we were just standing next to each other, it was ‘They’re standing two inches apart!’ Glen and I genuinely care for each other and have a love and respect for one another. I love being with him. And I think people just truly saw a really beautiful pairing.”
Both Sweeney and Powell have major projects releasing next month, as Sweeney is starring as Christy Martin in the awards-bait drama Christy, hitting theaters on November 9, while Powell will be starring in the Edgar Wright-directed remake of The Running Man, which released on November 14.
