On Sept. 10, 2025, someone killed prominent conservative Charlie Kirk while he was giving a talk at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

On Friday, officials announced they had a 22-year-old suspect from Utah in custody. While a lot is still unknown about the shooting, that apparently hasn’t stopped people from making statements—or publishing books about it.

In a recent video posted to TikTok, user Craig (@casino_craig) finds a peculiar listing for a book on Amazon. One detail about the book shocked him.

What’s Weird About This Amazon Book?

In his video, which currently has over 12,000 views, Craig reveals “something that no one is talking about.”

Pulling up Amazon, he performs a search for “charlie kirk shooting.” Immediately, he is greeted by several books that appear to be about the event.

Clicking on one, entitled “The Shooting of Charlie Kirk: A Comprehensive Account of the Utah Valley University Attack, the Aftermath, and America’s Response,” he scrolls down to the publication date.

“Look at that publication date,” he says. The date is listed as Sept. 9, 2025—one day before Kirk’s shooting. “What the f—?”

Craig isn’t the only person to note this. Searches for the alleged author, Anastasia J. Casey, on social media sites like X show a variety of people similarly questioning how it was possible to publish a book like this before the event occurred.

How Did This Happen?

In general, internet users are questioning three main details about the book. First, who is Anastasia J. Casey? Second, how were they able to publish a book so fast? And finally, how did they publish a book on a shooting that hadn’t even happened yet?

To start, the identity of Casey is unknown—and it’s likely that she does not exist. Amazon has a widespread problem of AI-generated books flooding its marketplace, with authors complaining about their books being knocked off by AI within a single day of publication. Amazon says that its review process for self-published books can take up to 72 hours. However, there is plenty of evidence, such as that provided by the aforementioned authors, that this process can take significantly less time.

The use of AI and large language Models also explains how the books are able to be written so fast, as well as their factual inaccuracies. For example, one user on X who actually purchased the book in question noted that, while basic details like the location and general events were accurate, the book quickly “goes off course of the true events” and starts to fabricate details. Namely, the conclusion of the book says that Charlie Kirk survived the attack.

OK, So What About The Publication Date?

Finally, regarding how the book was able to be published “before” the event, Amazon noted that this was simply an error.

In a statement to BroBible, the company wrote, “We have content guidelines governing which books can be listed for sale, and we remove books that do not adhere to these guidelines. The title in question is no longer available for sale. Due to a technical issue, the date of publication that had been displayed for this title, while it was briefly listed, was incorrect, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”

As noted in the statement, this title and other titles about the shooting appear to have been removed by Amazon.

Commenters Are Spooked

In the comments section, users said that this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.

“I remember there being books regarding the Maui fires available for purchase on Amazon the day of the fire. It’s so odd,” wrote a commenter.

“There are several books published yesterday and today!! Wth!!” exclaimed another.

“Even if the date was changed. NO ONE can write, publish and design a book in less than 25 hours,” observed a third.
