A viral story is making the rounds on TikTok. And it involves Texas Roadhouse, bread rolls, staples, and a 6-year-old girl.
TikTok user Maya (@maymonayy), who was involved in the incident, and another diner who simply witnessed it, Kayla (@redhotravioli), both posted storytimes about the incident. One video reached 2.5 million views, while the other pulled in over 443,000.
Woman Calls Out Texas Roadhouse For Dangerous Bread Rolls
In her clip, Maya says she and her family were eating at the Texas Roadhouse in Walpole, Massachusetts, when her younger sister suddenly bit into something hard inside one of the rolls.
“Mid-bite, my sister’s like, ‘Oh, like, there’s something hard in here,’” Maya recalls. “So my mom takes the bun to inspect it. We open the bun to find staples. We find staples, like, baked into the bread.”
Her mom chimes in in the video, saying, “Thank goodness she didn’t bite the whole bite, right?”
Maya claims that her sister “could have had staples in her throat right now” if she swallowed.
The family flagged down a manager, who, according to Maya, initially agreed the situation was unacceptable and said their entire order would be comped.
“’What I’m thinking, like, my speculation is that when the cooks were making the bread, when they opened the bag, the staples from the bag ripped out and fell into the dough,’” Maya says the first manager suggested.
But when a second manager, Deanna, came over, the tone changed, according to Maya. Maya says she was told that Texas Roadhouse is a “staple-free premise.” Her mom, however, points out that staples were visible on nearby paperwork.
What stung the most, Maya explains, was the lack of accountability. “If that was your kid that almost had a staple, do you think that you would be fine with getting told that you don’t feel comfortable comping your meal?” she asks.
In the end, the family says only one small meal was removed from the bill.
The Interaction With The Manager
At one point, Maya and her mom confront the manager, Deanna, about why their bill wasn’t fully comped, even though another manager had said it would be. They filmed and inserted the confrontation, which happens off-camera, into the video.
“Hi there, how can I help you over here?” Deanna asks.
Maya explains, “We were told by the previous manager that the entire meal was getting comped, so we were just kind of curious as to where it went to getting comped just one thing.”
Deanna replies, “She doesn’t feel like that’s what she had said. So I can certainly grab her if you like. But I’m just not comfortable comping your whole meal bill… you know, there was no injury or things like that.”
Maya’s mom pushes back, “It was just a matter of honor, what you said. We come here all the time—we don’t need a free meal.”
Deanna stands firm, saying, “That wasn’t the conversation she had with me. I can grab her so we can clarify.”
Eventually, Crystal, the first manager, approaches and admits, “Yeah, I said I would comp. But I had to go check with my manager.”
In the end, Deanna reiterates, “I comped what I feel comfortable with for tonight.”
They also inserted footage of the roll itself. And the footage clearly shows multiple staples baked directly into the bread.
Passerby Corroborates The Story
Another diner, Kayla, backs up the account in her own TikTok video. She says she was at the restaurant around the same time and sat directly next to the family.
“The little girl bit into a roll. And there were multiple staples in the roll,” Kayla says. “Thankfully, I don’t think the girl actually ate any of the staples, but Jesus Christ.”
Kayla also recalls overhearing a manager claim there were no staples on the premises—despite seeing a stapled packet at the table.
“To blatantly lie about something so serious like that is crazy,” she says, adding that Texas Roadhouse “needs to address this and work on their safety protocols.”
The Response And Aftermath
After the videos went viral, Texas Roadhouse’s social media pages were quickly flooded with angry comments.
“A child almost choked on staples at your establishment… please address,” one Instagram user wrote.
Another asked under a TikTok post, “So quick question, what’s y’all’s policy on staples inside bread?”
In response, Texas Roadhouse said, “We are aware of the situation and are actively investigating. Our team has been in contact with the guests involved and are addressing.”
Maya later said that corporate reached out and offered her a $70 gift card, but she turned it down, saying it wasn’t an appropriate response.
She also shared that her sister went to the ER for evaluation and is completely healthy. Additionally, Maya suggested she may be working with police on the matter but didn’t share specific details.
In an email correspondence with BroBible, a Texas Roadhouse representative reiterated they’re currently investigating the issue.
“We are aware of this situation and are actively investigating,” the spokesperson wrote. “The Health Department visited the store yesterday, and their report states there are no signs of physical contamination in the restaurant, including the bread and kitchen areas.”
They added that they “take concerns like this very seriously” and that their team has been in contact with the guests involved.

Commenters Are Outraged
Under Maya’s video, TikTok users were furious.
“OMG my fiancé and I were at the table right next to you guys!! … if you decide to sue you have us as witnesses!” one said.
Another claimed, “I used to bake for Texas Roadhouse. That DOES NOT HAPPEN by mistake.”
“I used to work there. SUE. They can afford it. They are a corporation,” a third wrote.
Others were blunt, “How the staples get in the bread? You tell me Deanna!”
And one person pointed out, “A $200 meal comp is worth it to avoid a lawsuit or this bad publicity.”
