The first trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu, the movie set to serve as a finale for The Mandalorian series, has been released. The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released in movie theaters on May 22, 2026.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is directed by Jon Favreau, the creator of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and director of films such as Elf, Iron Man, and The Lion King.
The film will see Pedro Pascal return to the role of Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, which is one of the key roles that’s seen the actor turn into a global superstar. In addition to Pascal, The Mandalorian & Grogu is also set to star Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White (in a voice/motion-capture role), and Jonny Coyne.

Here is the official synopsis for The Mandalorian & Grogu, via Lucasfilm:
“The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”
The Mandalorian first premiered on Disney+ in 2019 and was the first ever live-action Star Wars series. While the first two seasons — released in 2019 and 2020 — were acclaimed by both fans and critics alike, Season 3, released in 2023, saw the series suffer a major dip in reputation.
Since the premiere of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm has released additional live-action Star Wars series such as Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, The Acolyte, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.
In addition to the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu trailer, Lucasfilm also recently began production on the Shawn Levy-directed Star Wars: Starfighter, which will star Ryan Gosling and release in movie theaters on May 28, 2027. Addtional Star Wars: Starfighter cast members include Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, and Amy Adams.
