The Cast Of ‘The Sandlot’ Got Back Together To Celebrate Its 25th Anniversary (With One Major Exception)

April 1st marked the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot, and while many have tried, no one has come close to capturing the spirit of the carefree summers of childhood like the movie did. Even if you didn’t grow up in a time where parental supervision was virtually nonexistent and the best way to treat a black eye was to cover it with a chunk of beef, there’s still a pretty good chance you can relate to it in some way.

A few members of the Milwaukee Brewers celebrated the anniversary a bit prematurely when they paid tribute to the movie’s iconic closing shot last month, and now the original cast has gotten in on the action by getting back together to commemorate the occasion by attempting to recreate the original photo after reuniting in Los Angeles to commemorate the occasion.

As you might have noticed, there was one particularly notable person missing from the reunion: Michael Vitar, who played Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez. However, the rest of the cast sat down with The Today Show to reflect on how the movie impacted their lives (and still does).

Marty York— who played the scrawny Yeah Yeah in The Sandlot before deciding to get super jacked as an adult— says that he’s still reaping the benefits of being in the film:

“It’s been crazy. I mean, it definitely gets you in places for free. I can’t walk through a Las Vegas casino without someone yelling ‘Yeah-Yeah!'”

If legends never die, then these guys are going to be hanging around Earth for a while.
