It’s difficult to think of someone in pop culture who has had a better few years than Timothee Chalamet, as he’s been utterly anointed as Hollywood’s next iconic actor and has undoubtedly delivered on that expectation so far.
Following a Best Actor nomination for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in last year’s A Complete Unknown, Timothee Chalamet looks like a lock to be nominated, and is perhaps even running as the front runner, for the award again at this year’s Academy Awards, as he’s earning rave reviews for his lead role in Marty Supreme.
Marty Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, is yet another example of Chalamet’s commitment to his art and work, as he recently revealed he began taking ping-pong lessons in 2018.
Timothee Chalamet says he began taking ping-pong lessons to prepare for his role in Marty Supreme in 2018
“I had a table in London while I was making Wonka. On Dune 2, I had a table in Budapest, Jordan. I had a table in Abu Dhabi. I had a table at the Cannes Film Festival for The French Dispatch. I got myself an Airbnb in a town [around] Saint-Tropez after The French Dispatch, overlooking the water, and I was taking lessons there,” Chalamet told The Hollywood Reporter.
Given how long Chalamet has spent preparing for A Complete Unknown, Marty Supreme, and the Dune trilogy (production on the third and final movie began this summer), fans of the 30-year-old actor have been joking that his recent life has consisted of playing guitar, practicing ping-pong, reading Dune, and hanging out with Kylie Jenner.
