Actor Tom Holland was recently full of praise for the experience he had while filming Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey. According to Holland, it was the best job and experience of his career so far.
Tom Holland looks like he’ll have a pretty sizable roll in The Odyssey as he’s playing Telemachus, the son of Matt Damon’s Odysseus. The recently released first teaser for the film also mainly features Holland, in addition to Jon Bernthal.
During a recent interview with GQ Sports while at Wimbledon, Holland waxed lyrical about his experience filming The Odyssey with acclaimed Academy Award-winning director Christopher Nolan and said the movie will be “unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”
“It was amazing. The job of a lifetime, without a doubt. The best experience I’ve had on a film set, Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen,” Holland said in an interview with GQ Sports.
“Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure. To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
Alongside Damon, Holland, and Bernthal, The Odyssey is also set to star Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron.
Additional cast members include Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Nick E. Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, Michael Vlamis, Iddo Goldberg, Josh Stewart, Ryan Hurst, Anthony Molinari, Logan Marshall-Green.
“Matt Damon has always been a hero of mine, Anne Hathaway has always been a hero of mine,” Holland added. “So to share scenes with them, to learn from them, to become friends with them, I couldn’t have asked for a better job. And I’m so proud of the work I’ve done. I came to work every day with a real sense of purpose and a point to prove, and I’m so grateful for Chris to have given me that opportunity.”
The Odyssey, the first ever Hollywood film to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, is set for release on July 17, 2026. The teaser trailer is now playing in theaters alongside summer blockbusters such as Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman.
