For those of us that have been following the story of Trooper the Bull Terrier we can all rest easily now knowing that this story has a happy ending. Trooper has found his forever home after he was abandoned on the side of I-75 in Florida and chained to a tree as people were evacuating ahead of Hurricane Milton.

Trooper’s story gained national attention after troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol found the Bull Terrier chained to a tree as millions of Americans were evacuating. The name ‘Trooper’ was given to him by his saviors who quickly unchained the scared and abandoned dog and brought him into their vehicle for safety. From there, Trooper eventually made his way to the Leon County Humane Society in Tallahassee, Florida with stops at foster families along the way but this dog has finally found his forever home.

Featured on CBS Mornings, Trooper met the family who are welcoming him into their forever home. They are lifelong Bull Terrier owners which was a necessity from the Humane Society who said they would only adopt Trooper out to a family with extensive Bull Terrier experience:

This saga all began back on October 9th when Trooper was found on the highway:

Once Trooper’s story made headlines, millions of concerned pet lovers wanted answers about the owner and they were looking for accountability. The dog wasn’t microchipped but police were eventually able to track down the owner who was later charged with aggravated animal cruelty which is a felony here in the state of Florida.

The family that welcomed this special dog into their forever home shard their story with CBS. Carla and Frank Spina drove 400 miles from Parkland to Tallahassee to meet Trooper.

Frank Spina says their first meeting was special. The Humane Society worker said “‘Frank, why don’t you sit on that bench and see what happens?’ He came over and he got under my legs and I started scratching and his foot started moving.” The Spina family have 33 years of Bull Terrier experience and it sounds like this will be the perfect forever home for Trooper the Dog.
