An Uber Eats driver in New Jersey recently received the shock of a lifetime when delivering what they expected was a routine Chipotle order. As it turns out, what they thought was a burrito, was instead an ounce of marijuana placed in a ziploc bag wrapped in foil.
Washington Township police revealed that the driver pulled over when they noticed a strong smell emanating from the Chipotle bag and immediately called local police.
“An Uber Eats driver picked up a ‘burrito meal’ in Lindenwold NJ but noticed a strong smell of marijuana 🍁 wafting from the bag while driving to Glassboro. 🤔 Concerned, they pulled over in Washington Township and called us to check it out,” police revealed. “Ofc. Lou DeStefano unwrapped the foil surprise and found over an ounce of raw marijuana, a bottle of water and a box of soup – instead of rice and beans. 😳 This wasn’t the kind of wrap anyone ordered!”
The post stated that the burrito is now in evidence.
Uber Eats Driver Makes Marijuana Bust While Delivering Presumed Chipotle Burrito
We have a lot of thoughts on this. The first is how funny it is that they also delivered a bottle of water and a box of soup That seems extremely thoughtful. But to the same effect, why not just also include a Chipotle burrito? Or at least a (burrito) bowl? Maybe some tacos?
Not only would that likely have helped to cover up the smell, but it would also make the delivery driver significantly less suspicious.
Second, I’m not sure I was my Uber Eats delivery driver going through the contents of my delivery. Now, the major caveat here is that I am not buying drugs through Uber Eats. But even so, is it really the place of the Uber Eats driver to be going through orders?
Also, that is a hefty amount of marijuana (so we’re told). No wonder they were able to disguise it as a chipotle burrito. Talk about good portion sizing.
Police did not say whether any Chipotle employees or the person placing the order was charged with a crime. But even if they weren’t, I imagine the bust put a real damper on their day.
