In my experience, families often have a secret recipe which is described as ‘crack’ but is actually just zhuzhed up granola or brownies but this brings ‘crack cookies’ to a whole new level. Officers in Battle Ground, Washington observed suspicious activity in a parking lot which led them to ‘crack cookies‘ filled with a hodgepodge of hard drugs.
Battle Ground, Washington sits on the outskirts of Vancouver, Washington which is just across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon, so this all went down in Southern Washington about about 30 minutes north of Portland.
The City of Battle Ground shared photos of what they call “Crack Rock-let Chip Cookies” on Facebook. Their plan was to send a warning to any would-be criminals in the area who might be considering hiding cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine inside of cookie wrappers in order to hide drug deals in plain sight.
Officials from Battle Ground, Washington wrote “Last week, alert officers from the Battle Ground Police Department identified and disrupted an illegal narcotics operation involving drugs concealed inside several individually wrapped cookies.”
They went on to add “officers observed suspicious activity between two individuals inside a vehicle parked at a local shopping center. After securing and executing a search warrant, officers located various illegal narcotics, including cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, concealed within the cookie wrappers. Additional evidence consistent with drug trafficking, such as digital scales, transaction ledgers, and packaging materials, were also recovered from the vehicle.”
They finished their message with “Don’t be a bad baker. ‘Crack Rock-let Chip Cookies’ may earn you significant drug related charges. Not to mention the sweet confections ruined in the process.” … Significant??
With regards to charges, the statement says the driver was charged with “Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver” and the passenger was charged with “Possession of a Controlled Substance” which seems WILD when we are talking about cocaine, fentanyl, and meth. All of which are considered to be hard/potentially lethal drugs.
Crack Cookies are just the latest example how how common it is for criminals to hide drugs inside of food. Recently, CBP apprehended $14 million worth of methamphetamine which was hidden inside of a shipment of peppers and cucumbers.
