Chicago Man Doesn’t Want To Miss Philadelphia Eagles Vs. New York Giants Game While Driving. So He Comes Up With A Creative Solution. Is It Legal?

We’ve all been there: you want to watch the big game, but you have other things you need to do.

Any sports fan has had the experience of excusing themselves to the bathroom to check the latest basketball scores or trying to subtly read the football scores under the table at dinner. Some games, you just can’t afford to miss a second—especially if you’ve done a little sports betting on it.

But what if you’re doing something where you can’t check the scores? For example, what if a game’s happening while you’re on a long drive? This man has a solution—though internet commenters aren’t sure if it’s the best idea.

How Did This Man Manage To Watch The Game While Driving?

In a video with over 5.2 million views, TikTok user Ramsha (@ramshatta) films from the perspective of a car’s passenger seat.

On the dashboard of the car, a man has placed his phone. The phone’s bright screen is reflecting onto the windshield, allowing the man to both look at the road and watch the game at the same time.

“This guy is real-life watching the game as a projector in the car while driving,” Ramsha says.

“Can’t miss it,” the man says. “Can’t see my parlay fail.”

Looking at the car’s infotainment screen, it appears he’s also playing the game’s audio through his car’s speakers.

“This man will do anything but miss an NFL game,” Ramsha writes in the video’s caption.

Commenters Love The Idea

Immediately, commenters jumped in to call the man brilliant.

“How has nobody ever thought of this, that’s genius,” wrote a user.

“NAW HE COOKED WITH TS,” added another.

“You should get some type of reward for this discovery,” shared a third.

However, others were quick to note that doing this is dangerous.

“Can’t believe the amount of ppl calling this a good idea,” said a commenter. “Car accident 100% happening.”

“This is not safe at all,” declared a second. “He’s putting your life in danger.”

Others questioned whether such a setup was even legal.

Is It Legal To Watch TV And Drive?

No matter how cool it may look, this setup is almost certainly illegal.

Most states have what are called “Distracted Driving Laws.” These laws fine drivers who use devices while driving.

While many of these laws make exceptions for things like GPS and hands-free devices, a police officer is unlikely to allow a driver to watch a football game while driving.

There’s a good reason for this. Distracted driving is incredibly dangerous; as noted by the Governors Highway Safety Association, distracted driving-related crashes resulted in 3,275 deaths and 324,819 injuries in 2023. That’s an average of nine deaths and 890 injuries related to distracted driving every single day.

Is There Any Way To Watch A Game And Drive Legally?

As reported by VICE, distracted driving laws aren’t always clear-cut. There are some states where, by the letter of the law, you may be legally covered if you decide to stream a football game while driving.

That said, you still shouldn’t, as keeping your eyes off the road for a significant length of time can pose a danger not only to yourself but also to your passengers and anyone in the area of your vehicle.

Instead, you may want to find an audio stream of the game—or just do it the old-fashioned way and listen to the radio.
