‘Just Put My Crazy Bread In The Bag Bro’: Little Caesars Worker Shows Viewers Why The Pizza Is ‘So Cheap’

There is a common misconception that those who work in the food industry must wear gloves on the job. One study found that most consumers prefer seeing employees wear gloves because it gives the perception of safety. However, many would be surprised to learn just how few workers actually employ this practice.

A Little Caesars worker’s recent video is bringing this to light. In her now-viral video, she joked that the affordable cost of the pizza is due to how they assemble their pizza. “Showing you guys why Little Caesars pizza is so cheap,” Little Caesars worker Ne’Vaeh (@unknownnn67555) writes in the text overlay of it.

Then, she demonstrates step-by-step how she prepares the pizza without gloves in the kitchen of Little Caesars. First, she spreads a small amount of marinara sauce onto the dough with a ladle. Then, the content creator scoops a handful of shredded mozzarella cheese into a small cup and sprinkles it across the dough. Next, the worker moves onto the toppings, lining the pizza with pepperoni slices. Once the preparation is complete, Ne’vaeh slides the pizza onto a rack, getting it ready to be cooked.

It seems she anticipated that viewers would be disgruntled by her lack of gloves in the video.

She shares in the caption, “No we aren’t [required] to wear gloves.”

How Did Viewers React?

Her video didn’t seem to have her intended effect among viewers, who argued that the preparation process seems totally normal.

“Just an FYI, gloves are not mandatory in food service areas, proper handwashing is,” one viewer commented.

“I fail to see a problem. Honestly I thought they just came frozen, so this is actually way better than I expected,” another remarked.

“But it’s gonna hit everytime with a side of cheesy jalapeno sauce,” a third commenter said.

“Just put my crazy bread in the bag bro,” a fourth stated.

“Im still going to eat up that Italian cheese bread every time,” another wrote.

Are Wearing Gloves Mandatory When Making Pizza?

Gloves are recommended for preparing ready-to-eat food. But pizza doesn’t fall under that category. Since it will be cooked in an oven at several hundred degrees, only handwashing is needed for pizza preparation, according to 13 Live Action News.

However, workers are encouraged to wear gloves in the following cases:

  • If the worker has a bandage of some sort
  • If the worker has an open wound or other injury
  • If the worker has painted or fake nails

Although each state has its own food safety requirements, there isn’t a federal law or health code mandating the use of gloves.

So, Why Is Little Caesars Cheaper Than Other Pizza Places?

According to Mashed, the reason why Little Caesars is so cheap has to do with its takeout model and the ingredients it utilizes. While Little Caesars uses mozzarella from cow’s milk for its pizzas, it adds a lower-quality cheese, Munster, on its most affordable pies, the Hot-N-Ready pizzas. Little Caesars’ lack of topping options, in-house dough, and pre-made sauce also help keep costs low.
