‘Well At Least You Know They’re Real Wings’: Wingstop Customer Orders Container Of Buffalo Wings. Then She Inspects Them

There are few things more unsettling than biting into food and realizing something is wrong. It’s a mix of disgust, confusion, and a sudden loss of appetite after having anticipated that delicious bite.

Not long ago, a woman online claimed she found something bright green tucked inside her rotisserie chicken. In another case, a man dug into his fast food, only to discover an entire chicken head had slipped through the production line. And one unlucky Chipotle customer went viral after showing off a piece of metal lodged inside her tortilla chip.

Now, another diner has added to the list with a discovery in her takeout box of wings from Wingstop.

Woman Finds Feathers In Her Wingstop Wings

TikTok user Marcee (@_maarceee213) shared her order from Wingstop, expecting nothing more than a saucy plate of buffalo wings.

Instead, she spotted something strange: several of the wings still had battered, fried chicken feathers clinging to the skin.

“I’ve NEVERRRR seen feathers on my wings,” she wrote in her caption.

How Could This Have Happened?

This isn’t the first time feathers have been spotted in cooked wings.

Over the years, Facebook and Reddit users have shared similar cases, whether from takeout spots or even pre-cooked chicken purchased at grocery stores like Publix.

According to Wingmaster, though, what many customers think are “hairs” are actually something called filaments.

These tiny feather-like structures sometimes stay attached even after thorough cleaning. They’re safe to eat, though admittedly off-putting when you don’t expect to see them.

Wingmaster also notes that if a customer suspects a hair, the test is to check if it’s attached to the skin. If it is, it’s most likely a filament and not a strand of hair.

Commenters Don’t Find It All That Strange

In the comments under Marcee’s post, plenty of users weren’t surprised.

“Almost like they came from a bird,” one person wrote.

“At least you know they fresh/real,” another added.

But not everyone agreed. “ ‘Birds have feathers’—NO SHIT SHERLOCK,” one commenter said. “BUT THEY SHOULDN’T BE ON A FULLY DEAD, COOKED, AND SUPPOSED TO BE PLUCKED BIRD THAT HAS BECOME FOOD. This comment section has no brain cells oml.”

Others swore off the chain entirely. “Thanks now I’m never eating Wingstop again,” a user commented.
