If you were able to count up the number of backpacks that you’ve had in life dating back to your school days, I think you’d be surprised by the number. I wouldn’t be. Growing up, I prided myself on making a backpack last as long as it still closed shut and sat on my shoulders with intact straps. Durability, comfort, and packing space are my priorities, and I’ve got them all with my Patagonia backpack.

My wife got me the Refugio 30L Day Pack a couple of years ago. She was tired of seeing me waste my time burning through “discount” backpacks and thought I deserved an upgrade. She was right; I can safely say that this is the best backpack I’ve ever owned.

Every time I go to pack for a long trip, I’m always worried about overpacking/not having enough room for my necessities. This especially comes into play during air travel. I usually pack my backpack after my suitcase, which usually leads to the moment where I ask myself, “Where am I going to fit what’s left?” Silly me, I forget every time. My Refugio backpack is DEEP. Just when I think it can’t fit anything else, the extra-wide compartment finds a way.
