In the world of American whiskey, some bottles are just spirits, and others are stories.
Wyoming Whiskey has always been adept at telling the story of its home state with its limited edition spirits, and now, they’re sharing one of its most legendary tales with the rest of the country.
You can now raise a glass to Buffalo Bill Cody with a namesake limited-edition bourbon that’s as bold and memorable as the man himself.
Introducing Wyoming Whiskey’s Buffalo Bill Cody limited edition bourbon release…
Who is Buffalo Bill anyway?
Before we even get to the liquid, let’s talk about the man on the bottle. William Frederick “Buffalo Bill” Cody was the original superstar of the American West. Part scout, part bison hunter, and all showman, he took the pioneering stories of the frontier and turned them into a global phenomenon with his “Wild West” shows. He was a living legend, a figure who embodied the rugged individualism and adventurous spirit of the era. And, for the heads, I’m partial to a very deep cut Phish song named after the guy.
Wyoming Whiskey managed to capture his spirit with a limited edition bourbon as bold and full of character as the man himself.
First released exclusively in its home state this past June, the Buffalo Bill Cody bourbon quickly became the stuff of local legend, whispered about by whiskey lovers who were lucky enough to snag a bottle. The demand was immediate, and the quality was undeniable.

Now, Wyoming Whiskey is answering the call, rolling out this exceptional bourbon to select markets nationwide this fall. For those who appreciate the craft and artistry of a truly special release, this is the one you’ve been waiting for.
So, what makes this bottle a future classic?
It starts with its Wyoming roots. Crafted with locally grown grains and distilled in Kirby, Wyoming, this bourbon embodies the spirit of the West. While the national release has a slightly different proof, coming in at a very respectable 96 proof (48% ABV) compared to the original 97 proof.
It retains the same magnificent flavor profile that made the first batch a hit.
Just as Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show was a damn good hootenanny, this bourbon delivers its own sensory journey. On the nose, it’s rich with leather, dark cherry, chocolate, and a hint of honeyed almonds. The first sip delivers a complex palate of lemon cake, caramel nougat, and almond brittle, all wrapped in smooth milk chocolate. It finishes long and satisfyingly, with notes of cherry puree, candied ginger, and a touch of molasses that slowly gives way to a drying tobacco spice.

This release is the latest chapter in Wyoming Whiskey’s strategy of bottling the soul of the West.
Wyoming Whiskey National Parks No. 4 Yellowstone whiskey captured the wild, geothermal spirit of America’s first national park, and their Outryder blend brilliantly marries bourbon and rye. The Buffalo Bill Cody bourbon release shows how their limited editions are becoming some of the most coveted bottles on the shelf.
This is the playbook that sets Wyoming Whiskey apart: Instead of borrowing from Wyoming’s deep heritage and lore, they mainline it. By bottling a piece of their home’s soul, they craft spirits with a character that simply can’t be replicated.
Keep an eye out for Wyoming Whiskey’s Buffalo Bill Cody this fall in Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Montana, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Maine, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New York, Florida, and Colorado.
However, be warned: legends like this don’t last long.
