This is why you stick to the iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts. A YouTuber posted a video of a rat crawling all over the donut rack at a Dunkin in the Garment District, at 37th and 8th. NYC’s health department granted this place an “A” rating, somehow, even though they noted in November 2013 that it “not vermin proof and conducive to attracting vermin to the premises and/or allowing vermin to exist.” Dunkin is taking action, telling Gothamist:

“We take this matter very seriously. Immediately upon learning of the situation at the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant at 265 West 37th Street, a certified Operations Manager inspected the restaurant to ensure that all appropriate Dunkin’ Donuts food safety standards are being followed.”

Bottom line: Rats are everywhere in NYC. Living here is a lot more fun if you pretend they’ll grow up to be Splinter one day.
