NFL kickers rarely get the credit they deserve. They are often the scapegoats in a loss where they miss kicks and as field goal kickers they are expected to put it through the uprights 100% of the time or face consequences from the front office.
Below are the 17 longest field goals in NFL history. The list includes every field goal from 62 yards and further, including Justin Tucker’s NFL record for the longest field goal of all-time at 66 yards.

It is common for a field goal kicker to lead their team’s all-time scoring list. A good field goal kicker sticks with a franchise for years and racks up points every game. But they are always kept on a short leash…
For 43 long years, New Orleans Saints kicker Tom Dempsey held the NFL record for the longest field goal ever at 63 yards. It wasn’t until 2013 that Dempsey’s record was broken and since then the record has been changed a few times.
Below are the 17 longest field goals in NFL history, with multiple kickers tied at 62 and 63 yards, but plenty of others below. How many do you remember seeing in person?

Brett Maher’s 62-yard field goal in 2018 is the one that kicked off his record-setting feat of three FGs over 60 yards. He kicked the 62-yarder against the Eagles at AT&T Stadium and set the stage for 2019 when he’d tie and break his personal best.

On November 19, 2017, New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski made a 62-yard field goal against the Raiders during an international series game at Stadio Azteca in Mexico City. It is said this kick would have been good from 70-yards and could have set the all-time NFL record, due in part to Stadio Azteca in Mexico City sitting at an altitude of 7,200 feet above sea level where the air is thinner and the ball flies even further than it does in Denver.
62 yards: Matt Bryant, 2006

I had the great fortune of being at this game. It was my first-ever Buccaneers game in person. After growing up a Tampa Bay fan, I finally had the chance to go to a game and we watched Matt Bryant (the REAL Matty Ice) kick a 62-yard field goal against the Philadelphia Eagles as time expired for a 23-21 win in Week 7 (October 22).

Another former Florida State Seminoles kicker, Sebastian Janikowski, made NFL history with a 63-yard field goal on Monday Night Football back on September 12, 2011.

11 years after Matt Prater’s 64 yarder, Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey kicked a 65-yard field goal in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL Season in a game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Notably, Brandon Aubrey’s 65-yard field goal was not in Denver with the thin air and altitude but was at Jerry World with the roof closed. His kick came early in the 1st quarter and fell just one yard shy of the all-time NFL record which had been set three years prior.
