Adam Randall is likely going to start at running back for the Clemson Tigers during the 2025 college football season. He has very little experience at the position.
The former wide receiver only made the switch in December.
Even though he is new to the backfield, Randall is already considered one of the biggest sleepers in college football for this upcoming season. His massive frame draws comparison to Derrick Henry!
Who is this guy?
Randall was rated as a four-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2022. Other notable pass-catchers in his class include Luther Burden, Evan Stewart and Tatairoa McMillan.
The South Carolina-native committed to Clemson as early as 2020 over 22 offers from schools like Ole Miss, Tennessee, Miami, LSU, Florida State, Georgia and Oregon. It was a big get for the Tigers.
However, Randall never quite lived up to his full potential at his original position. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound wide receiver caught only 48 total passes for 533 yards and two touchdowns in three seasons.
His 45-yard kickoff return during a last-second win against SMU in the ACC Championship last season was the highlight of his career thus far.
As you can see, Adam Randall is hard to bring down in the open field! He is just as shifty as he is fast.
Don’t blink or you’ll miss him!
Randall also used to compete in track and field at Myrtle Beach High School with personal bests of 10.94 seconds in the 100 and 22.83 seconds in the 200. Although those times may not be on par with the best professional sprinters in the world, they were pretty strong marks for a junior in high school at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds.
With that speed in mind, Clemson decided to move Randall from wide receiver to running back at the end of last season for the College Football Playoff. One of his first-career carries went 41 yards against Texas.

The switch was initially made out of necessity because the Tigers needed bodies in the backfield. It has since become permanent.
Adam Randall is the next Derrick Henry, maybe.
There is a lot of buzz about Randall during the start of fall camp at Clemson. His offseason body transformation is the biggest reason why.
According to starting quarterback Cade Klubnik, Adam Randall bulked up from 225 pounds at wide receiver to 240 pounds (!!) as a running back. He has seven percent body fat.

If that is not impressive enough, Klubnik says Randall is still running the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds!
To put this height, weight and speed in perspective, lets compare him to Derrick Henry.
- Height:
- Randall: 6-foot-3
- Henry: 6-foot-3
- Weight:
- Randall: 240 pounds
- Henry: 247 pounds
- 40-Yard Dash:
- Randall: 4.4
- Henry: 4.54
Adam Randall is basically the same size. He is one tenth of a second faster. Look out, ACC!
