Adam Schefter has revealed the strangest place he’s ever broken a story. And it’s not so much *where* Schefter was at the time, but rather, what he was doing.
Speaking to Kevin Clark for his This Is Football show that’s produced by Peyton Manning’s production company Omaha Productions, Adam Schefter was asked about the weirdest place he ever broke a story and the veteran NFL insider took a beat before revealing that it happened in bed while he was with a woman.
Given the tone of Schefter’s voice and smirk on his face when he tells the story, and the intentionally vague details he gives, it sounds like he was post-coitus when the news came through, and being the ever-professional that he is, Schefty broke it.
“I can remember being in Denver one time and I was, how do I say this? I just spent time with this woman for the first time, and got a text that Dale Carter was being suspended,” Schefter told Clark.
“I think it was for eight games for substance abuse. So I continued to lay there, confirm it, and got the job done, Kevin. In every which way.”

Schefter, 57 years old, has been married to his wife Sharri Maio since 2007 and the pair have two children together. She’s not the woman he’s referring to, so hopefully, this is a story she already knew, otherwise Schefty might be in for an awkward conversation at dinner tonight.
As for Dale Carter, he played in the NFL from 1992 to 2003 with the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints. Carter was suspended for the entire 2000 season due to a substance abuse violation, which is perhaps what Schefter is talking about.
Specifically, the NFL announced Carter’s suspension on April 25, 2000, meaning Schefter’s story either took place that day or the night before. Congrats on the sex, Adam.
