Former NFL star Adrian Peterson was back in trouble with the law Thursday night as he was arrested for DWI after attending the Minnesota Vikings’ draft party. The 40-year-old had been one of the featured guests at the team’s draft day event held at U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, Peterson was arrested after being stopped at around 3:20 a.m. by a State Patrol trooper in Richfield, Minnesota. The arrest report states he was driving 83 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone in an Audi Q5.
State Patrol reported Adrian Peterson took a preliminary breath test that measured his blood alcohol content at 0.14%, nearly twice the legal limit in the state of Minnesota. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree driving while impaired and was booked into the Hennepin County Jail at around 5:15 a. He was released around two hours later after posting a $4,000 bond.

Last September, Adrian Peterson was ordered by a judge in Houston, Texas, to turn over assets to help pay off what is estimated to be more than $12 million in debt. In December, he was wanted by police on multiple warrants in Texas over unpaid child support.
Peterson, who played for the Vikings from 2007 until 2016, was also arrested in 2009 for going 109 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone. In November 2014, Peterson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault after disciplining his 4-year-old son with a tree branch and was suspended for the rest of the NFL season.
Adrian Peterson played 15 seasons in the NFL with the Vikings, Saints, Cardinals, Redskins, Lions, Titans and Seahawks. He rushed for 14,918 yards and scored 126 touchdowns. In 2012, he won the NFL MVP award after rushing for 2,097 yards, the second most in a single season in NFL history. In college, he set the freshman rushing record with 1,925 yards in 2004.
