Top Colorado football recruit Adrian Wilson is leaving the team before ever playing a snap. The freshman announced plans to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday.
A 4-star prospect, he was the best wide receiver in the Buffs‘ 2025 recruiting class. They’ll never get to see his talents on display in Boulder.
Wilson hails from Pflugerville, Texas. He was the 45th-best wideout in the most recent cycle, according to 247 Sports. As a high school junior, he posted a 1,000-yard season while hauling in 14 scores. He racked up another 985 yards last year.
Colorado had hoped to see him make an impact in the 2025 season and beyond. That won’t be the case. His transfer decision comes four months before the start of the year.
It’s far from the first change of heart the pass catcher’s had. In fact, he committed to three other schools before signing with the Buffs.
Initially, Adrian Wilson committed to play for TCU. That pledge came in June of 2023. A month later, he spurned the Horned Frogs for Oregon.
Wilson’s offers continued to pile up over the next year. In March of 2024, he decommitted from the Ducks. He then made a pledge to Arizona State in April.
That commitment lasted all of six months before he switched it up to Colorado in October. Wilson signed with the Buffs in the early period, which would’ve appeared to have ended his recruitment. Not so fast!

Adrian Wilson is now chasing his fifth college commitment. He’s yet to play a down of NCAA football. He lasted four months on campus in Boulder before opting for a way out. The reasoning behind that decision is unclear.
Maybe he was unhappy with his spot on the depth chart. The Buffs were able to add some wide receiver talent in the transfer portal this offseason. Or, maybe he’s looking for a spot closer to his home state of Texas.
Whatever the case, Wilson will receive interest from top programs throughout the country, as seen in his high school recruitment. The wideout is on the market as a top receiving option. We’ll soon find out where he winds up.
