Both All Elite Wrestling and its current world champion, Jon Moxley (real name Jonathan Good), are named as defendants in a civil lawsuit alleging negligence, civil assault, and battery. The claims stem from a 2023 incident in which the plaintiff clams to have suffered serious injury.
Christopher Dispensa, who worked for Broadcast Service Group, a group that provided crew for AEW, alleges that he suffered severe neck and shoulder injuries when Moxley shoved him to the ground during a show on May 10, 2023. Dispensa claims he needed cervical fusion surgery, shoulder surgery, and treatment for other unspecified injuries following the incident.
Aew and Jon Moxley sued for negligence, civil assault, and battery by production crew member:

Video of the incident shows Moxley shove Dispensa during a match with fellow AEW competitor Kenny Omega (Tyson Smith). Omega is not named as a defendant in the suit. Moxley took a screwdriver from Dispensa before shoving him to the ground. According to the suit, Moxley was only supposed to take the screwdriver from Dispensa, not push him to the ground.
The suit also claims that Moxley “had a history of disciplinary issues before this incident involving other people while under [AEW’s] employ, agency and/or contractual relationship.” It also says that “past disciplinary offenses by [Moxley] include a documented history of unpredictability as well as a lack of control by Defendant AEW, all of which were known or should have been known to Defendant AEW at the time of this assault.”
Moxley missed several months of AEW tapings in 2021 while in rehab for alcoholism. He returned to the show later that year, however.
In statement to The Takedown on SI, AEW sources said that they are “unaware of any history of disciplinary issues with Moxley, noting he is respected within the promotion by talent and management.”
