Miami is apparently willing to spare no expense to land a commitment from AJ Haulcy through the transfer portal. The Hurricanes gave him the same treatment as Cam Ward, if not even better.

I cannot imagine that he will decide to play anywhere else. It would be a tough look for Mario Cristobal if he does.

Haulcy began his college football career at New Mexico. The former three-star defensive back recorded 86 total tackles with two interceptions, two forced fumbles and three pass deflections as a freshman, which led him to enter the portal. He transferred to Houston.

The 6-foot-9, 215-pound safety made 97 tackles as a sophomore. AJ Haulcy finished with 74 tackles, seven pass deflections and five picks as a First-Team All-Big-12 player in 2024.

Very few players in the country hit harder than Haulcy, if any. He is in high demand after he recently re-entered the transfer portal. Defensive back is a premium position. There are no red flags or concerns about his potential. Whatever team receives his commitment will get an absolute stud.

Ole Miss, LSU and Miami are Haulcy’s primary suitors. It will come down to the Rebels and the Canes.

Haulcy was in Florida on Tuesday to visit Coral Gables and Miami. The U set him up at a luxury hotel.

Mario Cristobal somehow got him a police escort to tour downtown Miami in a convertible. Traffic literally stopped so a college football coach could drive his top recruit around the city. That’s crazy!

AJ Haulcy ended his night with a very expensive dinner at one of the top steakhouses on South Beach. Rick Ross casually stopped by. No big deal!

Miami took the same recruiting strategy with quarterback Cam Ward in December of 2023. Look how that worked out. For Cristobal to invite Da Boss to dinner with AJ Haulcy says everything that needs to be said about how badly the Canes want him to commit. I would imagine that he will.
