AJ Storr is back in the transfer portal after spending a season at Kansas. The guard will be searching for his eighth school in eight years dating back to his high school playing days.

Reports of a seven-figure NIL ask surfaced throughout his recruitment last offseason. He likely won’t garner the same attention in the portal this year.

Storr’s path has been a winding one. He played for four different high school teams, though that was due to no fault of his own.

He initially started out at Kankakee High in Illinois. While talented enough to garner NCAA interest, he failed to land offers leading to a transfer to Bishop Gorman in Nevada.

The COVID pandemic caused a cancellation of his 2020 season, resulting in another move. This time, he wound up at AZ Compass Prep where he spent one year. With his high school eligibility up, he then moved onto IMG Academy in Florida for a post-grad season.

IMG allowed him to flash his talents on a national stage. He landed an offer from St. John’s and signed with the Red Storm in ’22. After his first season, head coach Mike Anderson was fired. AJ Storr transferred to Wisconsin in the offseason.

With the Badgers, the guard blossomed into a star, averaging 16.8 points per game to help the team reach the NCAA Tournament. With stock at an all-time high, he hit the portal again seeking a major payday.

AJ Storr reportedly asked Kansas for $1M.

The Jayhawks played hardball, and Storr was said to have initially turned down a $750,000 offer. The two sides were eventually able to find a middle grounds.

Storr had been the one of, if not, the top transfer on the market at the time of his signing. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out.

He saw a drastic dip in success, with his scoring total getting cut by two-thirds at 6.1 points per game. He started just four games with the program.

Now, he’ll look to finish on a high note with another school. AJ Storr is back in the transfer portal.

Due to the dip in production, he’s likely to see less interest this time around. His future NIL payout might reflect that. Still, he’s proven to be an elite scorer at the P4 level, meaning someone will take a chance on the transfer guard in hopes of recreating that past success.

AJ Storr’s NCAA career will soon come to an end. He’s made the rounds while hitting major stops in the Big East, Big Ten, and Big 12. It will be interesting to see where he ends up next. It’s reasonable to believe another major program will land his next commitment.
